In 2023, Baskin Clinic had a fantastic journey, adding four team members and opening a second location. Exciting plans for 2024 include completing Tualatin office renovations and launching a new vaccine service through our partnership with VaxCare. And we know more excitement lies ahead. Maybe we’ll find a use for this new AI thing everyone is talking about?
Digital detox
One thing we’ll be wrapping up this holiday season is the hours that our devices get to steal our attention with notifications from distressing sources. We’ll also gift ourselves a few minutes to unsubscribe from emails we never read. And as a reward, we’ll treat ourselves with more time for ourselves, our families, and friends. Consider making plans for your own digital detox.
VaxCare
Starting in January, you’ll see a broader menu of vaccine options thanks to our new partnership with VaxCare. Baskin Clinic will administer the vaccines, and VaxCare will manage the inventory and bill your insurance. Imagine – no more waiting at the pharmacy for your injections!
Please bring your insurance card to your next appointment to ensure we have the most up-to-date information. VaxCare is in-network for all major insurance carriers, so nearly all vaccines will be free to you. The system will check your coverage in real time, and provide transparent pricing for any uncovered vaccines.
Please be patient with us as we work out the kinks with ordering and inventory to meet demand. We expect to be able to offer all kinds of vaccines, including but not limited to: childhood immunizations, shingles, hepatitis A & B, seasonal flu, COVID, and RSV. Talk with your provider about vaccines you’re interested in receiving.
Data security, photos, and you.
In the digital age, we’re frequently hearing about personal information and sensitive images getting hacked. Rest assured, all data transmitted and stored by the Spruce app are encrypted. When sending your doctor a picture of a sensitive nature, take the picture using the Spruce app by navigating to the conversation between you and your provider, and then take the photo by choosing the camera icon. This will ensure that your images are securely stored in the app, rather than your device’s camera roll or backup services. If you send us a photo, video, or other file attachment from outside of Spruce, you can delete the original. Spruce will retain a secure copy.
On the subject of sending your doctor photos…

Tips for Taking Photos for Your Doctor
1. Phone cameras require plenty of light to capture fine details.
• Step outside and use daylight, if possible.
Opt for for a shady spot over direct sunshine.
• If you’re inside, choose a room with lots of natural light.
Turn the subject towards the windows, and make sure your phone is not pointing at the window. (see graphic)

2. Turn off flash. It washes out the colors.
3. Use a neutral or uniform background to avoid distraction.

Get to know our other doctors
Your Baskin Clinic doctor will occasionally go on vacation, get sick, or have a family emergency. While they are away, one of our other experienced physicians will ensure that you are well-cared for.
We strive to manage absences seamlessly by rerouting direct communications to the covering physician within Spruce. So don’t be surprised if an unfamiliar voice answers the phone while your doctor is out. Since text, phone, and video records are all in the same place, your usual doctor can easily catch up on what happened. Check out the bios of all Baskin Clinic physicians on our About Us page and search our Blog page to find even more information.
As you know, we always like to end these newsletters with something fun. And while we’re a bit past Thanksgiving now, we’re smack-dab in the conflux of the eating holidays and the Ozempic/Wegovy/Semaglutide hype train. Which means this reel is still making us laugh every time.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season,
Baskin Clinic
